Information that stays on your device
Everything below is stored only on your phone, in the app's private storage. It is never uploaded to us or anyone else. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
- Your location. Duhaa uses your location only to calculate prayer times. Prayer times are computed entirely on your phone with an offline calculation library — your location is never sent to us or any prayer-time server.
- Prayer calculation method. The app automatically picks the standard calculation method for your region (for example, Muslim World League in West Africa, ISNA in North America). You can change it manually in settings. Your choice is stored on your phone only.
- Prayer alert settings. Which prayers alert you and how far in advance. Alerts are scheduled by your phone's own operating system — no Duhaa server is involved.
- Tasbih counts. Your dhikr counters and saved counts.
- Prayer and fasting tracker. Your per-day checkmarks and fasting entries.
- Quran cache. Surahs you have opened, saved so they load instantly.
- Hijri calendar preference and app settings. Small preferences like adhan autoplay and your last open tab.
Information that leaves your device
Three features need the internet to work. When you use them, your phone contacts the services below directly:
1. Islamic Q&A assistant
When you ask a question in the "Ask about Islam" assistant, your question is sent to our server (duhaa-gemini-proxy) which forwards it to Google's Gemini AI to generate an answer. This means:
- Your question text is transmitted to and processed by Google's Gemini API. Google's handling of that text is governed by Google's privacy policy.
- Our server does not permanently store your questions. It applies a short-term rate limit (up to 100 questions per device address) to prevent abuse, then discards the request data.
- Do not include personal information (your name, address, or anything identifying) in your questions — it is not needed to get an answer.
2. Feedback form
If you use the in-app feedback button to send a suggestion or bug report, the text you write is sent through the FormSubmit service and delivered to us by email at sadickabdul1233@yahoo.com. We read feedback to improve Duhaa. Anything you write there is provided voluntarily — do not include sensitive personal information.
3. Quran text, translation, and audio
The Quran reader fetches Arabic text, English translation, and recitation audio from the public AlQuran Cloud service (api.alquran.cloud). Your phone sends only the surah number you open (for example, "surah 36"). No personal information is included.
Technical details of internet connections
Like any app that uses the internet, when your phone contacts these services they automatically see ordinary technical details of the connection (such as your IP address), the same as when you visit any website. Duhaa adds no advertising identifier or tracking of its own to these requests.
What Duhaa does not do
- No accounts, no sign-in. Duhaa never asks for your name or a password.
- No analytics or tracking. There is no usage tracking, no crash-reporting SDK, and no code that reports what you do back to us.
- No ads. Duhaa shows no advertising and contains no advertising SDKs.
- No sale of data. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with data brokers, advertisers, or any other third party.
- No cross-app tracking. Duhaa does not track you across other apps or websites.
Third-party services summary
| Service | Purpose | What is sent |
|---|---|---|
| Google Gemini (via our proxy server) | Answers to your Islamic questions | The question text you type. No name, email, or account. |
| FormSubmit | Delivers your feedback to us by email | The feedback text you write. Voluntary. |
AlQuran Cloud (api.alquran.cloud) | Quran Arabic text, translation, and audio | Only the surah number you open. No personal information. |
Data retention
- On-device data (location, counts, logs, settings) is kept until you delete the app or clear its data.
- Q&A questions are not permanently stored by our server; only short-term rate-limit counters are kept and expire automatically.
- Feedback emails are kept in our mailbox so we can act on them.
Children
Duhaa is a general religious utility app with no age gate. Because Duhaa collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either. The Q&A and feedback features transmit only what is typed into them, as described above.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this same web address with a new effective date at the top. Because Duhaa has no accounts, we cannot notify you directly — please check back occasionally.
